I’m a Photographer and Tintype artist based in Nevada and working everywhere.

I was born in South Lake Tahoe, CA and grew up in the Carson Valley.  One of my passions is pairing my creative viewpoint along with the American West to produce beautifully refined art pieces.  I attempt to use my creative “eye” to capture what most don’t see, therefore, developing “Eye of Rie” Photography & Tintype.

I have had the honor of placing 1st in the Shooting the West Photography symposium in 2012 sponsored by National Geographic, featured in Analog Forever Magazine along with other published works.  I have also contributed to the Clear Creek Tahoe development as a featured artist.  

Along with digital fine art photography, I am passionately pursuing the art of Tintype.  This is a beautiful 1800’s method of producing images on tin/aluminum and they are truly one of a kind.  Nothing seems to capture the soul of a human better.  Some of you might wonder if these “old time” photos are the same as they do at art fairs and tourist attractions - the simple answer is NOPE!  These are authentic 1800’s recipes and methods used to produce images in front of your eyes - No photoshop.  No editing.  Only pure chemistry, technique and hands on work makes these images a true work of art.  

I specialize in photographic wall art, original tintypes, ambrotypes (images created on glass) and large-scale tintype replicas.  I am also pulling this 1800’s method of photography and making custom one-of-a-kind tintype & ambrotype jewelry! These jewelry pieces are like no other and each piece is hand crafted, loaded into my large format camera and shot directly onto the piece. They are mysterious and stunning!

My excitement comes when I can provide heirloom artwork that can be passed down for generations.  In our day and age, images live on iPhones, computers, or hard drives and I want to create “tangible” images that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

I am also branching out to offer classy, traditional portraits of our beloved furry dog companions! I am a dog lover at heart and felt like I wanted to offer something beautiful to hang in your home and cherish forever.
